Sarah Spence

Director, Government Affairs

Sarah has more than 14 years experience in legislative and government affairs. As Government Affairs Director for the Ohio Environmental Council, she is responsible for the government relations program that focuses on strategic engagement of local governments, state agencies and state lawmakers.

Sarah, a native of Oak Hill, OH, has previously served as the Communications and Legislative Affairs Manager for the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission where she served as the contact between the Commission, the Ohio General Assembly and Governor’s office. She has also been a legislative aide in the Ohio Senate and a regional field director for the Ohio Secretary of State's office.

Outside of work, she serves on the leadership council of the Ohio Conservative Energy Forum, an organization devoted to an all of the above energy future that includes clean and renewable energy innovations and solutions and is a member of the national Young Conservatives for Energy Reform. She currently serves as the chairman of the Ohio Young Republicans and as assistant secretary for the National Young Republican Federation. Sarah has been involved in several political campaigns from county central committee races, gubernatorial races, and Congressional races to the most recent presidential primary race.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hiking, sports and volunteering at her church’s free legal clinic.
